hay fever: An acute allergic reaction marked by sneezing, congestion and a runny nose; usually seasonal and caused by pollen.

histamine: A chemical of the body released by cells in response to an allergic reaction.

hives: Raised, itchy patches of skin or mucus membrane sometimes caused by allergies.

inflammation: A localized response of body tissues to injury or irritation and characterized by pain, swelling, redness and heat.

intradermal test: A test for immunity or hypersensitivity where a small amount of diluted antigen is injected into the skin.
